What permits are needed to host weddings on a property, as a business, in California?
Q. I would like to buy property around Los Angeles and host weddings there. Does the property need to be zoned as a "business"? What is the proper zoning or permits that need to be issued? Thanks ahead!

A. It has to be Zoned as Commercial if you intend on a business there. It can be Residential-Commercial, but its just like a Church, or a School, they are zoned Commercial, some are Commercal-Residential. Then you need a Business License,Tax ID. After that, your pretty much set up.

Help, I have a speeding ticket on permit?
Q. In IL, where I live, they allow you to drive under your permit as long as you have a 18 year old. Well my friend is 18 and I was driving her car, I was doing 60 on a 45 mile zone! Got stopped by the cops, gave me a ticket, decided to go to court next month, but im getting my license this week. So does the DMV still let you get your license even if you have a tickert??

A. Do not play games with this situation...It is not a criminal offense - yet...You must go to court and explain your case...If you decide to contest the ticket, your hearing should be re-scheduled for a later date...At that time, the issuing officer will probably be in attendance to present the law's side of the story...In which case - you lose. Do not do anything in advance about the ticket - like going to traffic school - since traffic school is a 'sentence' by the court...Be prepared to pay a fine - perhaps a couple of hundred dollars. The best thing to do is to get this issue resolved before you apply for a real license and make sure it is off your record...Got a copy of your driver record to make sure. Q. Okay let s start from the beginning. With the dying job market there will be a increased interest in alternative ways to make money for the average American. The option most Americans will probably be looking toward will be new/small businesses. The government s red tape combined with the competition makes it virtually impossible for a new business to survive. If the government were to lessen their control over small businesses by means of zoning laws, permits, inspection costs, and taxes, the possibility of creating a new business would become a more viable option for mainstream Americans. A. An interesting and lengthy question that possibly deserves an equally lengthy answer. I have worked for various companies. Everything from a family owned business that employed 3 family members, to a large Wall Street firm that employed roughly 40,000 people. The issue that we have here is that in trying to regulate businesses, it's as if the government is trying to please everyone...and in doing so, they please no one. Like the saying goes, "You can't just be a little bit pregnant". As a shareholder in a wide range of publicly traded companies, I have had a few of my common stocks go to zero, while the companies filed for bankruptcy (Lehman Bros. and WaMu are just 2 of them).
