Do plumbing access panels come with openings where you can turn the valve and not remove the entire panel?
Q. It is almost impossible to remove my access panel under the sink to turn on/off the valve. If it had a little opening or door, it would be much easier to get under the sink and simply open the door and turn the valve.

A. If its under your sink where it won't be seen, try a 4'' hole saw. Then cover it with something decorative if you wish.

How do I remove the interior back door panels on a 92 Accord to access the auto door locks?
Q. The locks in the two back doors don't work; they just buzz when you lock or unlock the doors. The front locks work fine. I have removed the screws at the armrest and in the handle depression. There is another screw under the door lock knob that seems to prevent me from removing the panel but I can't get to it. Is there some way to remove that screw or is something else preventing me from removing the door? Thanks

A. I think you have to remove the inside handle first too, some have a screw in the middle to remove and then must be slid either foreward or back to release them. Sometimes there are screws hidden under plastic caps the same color as the inside trim. There will be several hidden push-in clips along the sides & bottom of the trim panel that you will have to pop out by carefully prying between the trim and the door. (there is a special fork-like tool made for this that can be purchased at an auto parts store.) Once everything is loose, you should be able to lift it up & off of the door. This may help...

How do I remove the door sill and kick panels to access the carpet?
Q. I have a 1996 Honda Accord LX and I know this is easy to do, I just don't know how to. I need to run wire under the carpet but I dont know how to lift the carpet up.

A. Honda's use push into place retainers on the trim panels that cover the rocker panels. A large flathead screwdriver worked under the panel will help to revel fastener locations and you can carefully lift up and they should "pop" and "snap" as they break free. You may need to replace a few or substitute with silicone adhesive in the worst case scenario.

Anyone know how to remove a Oldsmobile door panel?
Q. The electric window motor on my 1989 Olds Delta 88 has stopped, of coarse in the down position, and I need to access the motor to get the window up by hand and eventually replace the motor. The problem is, other than the clips around the edge of the panel and the plastic part behind the handle I see nothing else to take off the rest. There are not even screws under the armrest. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Asked by Mark U 4 LIFE - Sat Apr 19 22:30:03 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. there are always screws holding the arm rest and or handle you pull to close the door. they can be hard to find on some cars. if you can't see them looking at the bottom side, then look very closely at the handle for a plastic cover that conceals them. when you think you've found it pry it off carefully with a thin screwdriver or knife. all cars have screws here, otherwise you would pull the panel off when you shut the door. you just have to find them.

Q. does anyone know how to remove the door panel to access the speakers on a 2003 chevy s-10
Asked by Chris G - Sat Apr 12 19:28:32 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Do you have power windows or a manual crank? I have the same truck with manual windows/door locks. Basically, there is a phillips head screw behind the door handle that should be visible. You will need to move the handle to get to it. Then, there are 2 7mm bolts that are under the armrest on the door panel. They are at upward angles, but if you get down and look under the armrests, they will be visible. Lastly, if you have the manual door crank, there is a "Jesus clip" that holds it on. It will be in between the actual window roller, and the black plastic spacer that goes between the roller and the door panel. It won't be super visible, but is accessed the easiest if you access it from the bottom rather than that top. You will… [cont.]

How do I change the bulbs in the HVAC panel of a 2004 Saab 9-3 Linear?
Q. I just bought a 2004 Saab 9-3 Linear (4 Door) for my fiancee and it looks like one of the bulbs behind the HVAC is burned out. At night the bottom left hand side (the area around the temp knob) is not lit, and it's rather annoying. Autozone couldn't tell me which bulb to buy or how to get behind the panel to access the dead bulb. Can anyone tell me if there is an easy way to get back there? Also - I would like to do the work myself and not involve the dealer if possible. Thanks!

A. Take your left hand and gently grip the temp knob and pull so that the side of the MCC panel dislodges itself slighty. Using a hook tool, insert the hook behind the face of the unit and pull it towards you. Pull it just enough so that you can now firmly grab the unit with your fingers. Do the same to the other side. Pull the entire unit out of its perch. Note: There are no screws holding this unit in. When the 2 connectors are visible, use a small screwdriver inserted at the small slot between the red connector and the body of the unit. Open the connector until you hear or feel a detent click. This is as far you will have to go to disengage the connector from the unit. Installation is the reverse of the above. If you look closely you will… [cont.]

A. If your Audiovox tv has A/V inputs then you should be able to hook it up. Consult your Audiovox manual but if it has A/V inputs it should be able to hook up a PS2. Just follow the cables and see where they end up but your Audiovox tv may have 2 sets of inputs.

But because of that, I can't even get to the screws to take our the door panels off and access the inner assembly. Thanks in advance.

A. It will not pass. Working doors are a safety issue. If there is a problem and you cant get out, this would be a bad thing. You could call a tow truck or an auto club to see if they can get it open with a slim jim.

Philips DLP TV with no lamp access door?
Q. I have a 60" Philips DLP TV that is not working. About two months ago the lamp failed light was flashing and then stopped. The last week or so it became darker and darker and then no picture. Two days ago it shut itself off and the power light began blinking six times slow and five times fast. Philps suggested trying a software upgrade which didnt work because it wouldnt stay on long enough to recognize the download. The lamp is on backorder with no known date of being restocked. The model number is 60PL9200D/37. Any suggestions of what can be done other than purchasing a new tv? This one is about 2-3 years old. A. With all due respect, if you're not sure what you're doing I'd consider getting someone in to do the job for you. If you do it and it goes wrong you'll have a big hole in the wall and an even bigger bill to get it fixed. It's not an easy task and there's much more to it then just knocking a hole in the wall - not least of which is preventing the wall above the hole from falling down.
