What is the masculine form of Alis Volat Propriis?
Q. I understand that "Alis Volat Propriis" translates as "She flies by her own wings". What is the masculine form, ie: "He flies by his own wings"?
Asked by whirlpool23 - Mon Mar 12 18:51:16 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I think that it can be the masculine form also. It is in the third declension so the forms of the word are the pretty much the same through the masculine and feminine gender and there is no way to tell which gender they are talking about by looking at the verb.

A. The problem isn't your creams it's the fact that many people don't know this tip: You must use the creams RIGHT after you've washed your hands and/or bathed and immediately after drying. What you want to do is to seal the moisture into your skin with the oil. A very good hand cream is good old Vaseline also Eucerin CREAM (not lotion), works really well. The trick is to put them on right after drying from a wash.

A. First make sure you created an Alias the proper way. I cannot tell from what you wrote if you did. how do i create an alias for every Yahoo! ID you can create 6 aliases. In the Messenger menu at the top of Y!M choose My Account Info and once you sign in, on the right you will see where you can create aliases. I will be posting some help links for you that will explain this in detail. One major thing that is different now is that aliases cannot have unique profiles. If you want an alias to have a profile you will have to link it to your main Yahoo ID. But if you want to remain completely anonymous you will not want to link it and just make do with no profile. You might need to exit Yahoo! Messenger before the new alias you have… [cont.]

How do your pronounce "Alis Volai Propiis"? (Latin for She Flies with Her Own Wings)?
Q. I want to get this tattooed but I need to learn how to say it correctly. Can anybody give me a break down of how it's prounounced? Thank you!
Asked by Shaylea Bree - Sun Apr 19 20:18:57 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I hope you have typos here because ... If this is to be a tattoo, you should first get the spelling correct. The correct spelling is "Alis Propriis Volat.". (The words are capitalized because it is for a tattoo.) The pronunciation is ah-lees ... pro (as in short for "professional) pree iss (rhymes with "kiss") ... wo (rhymes with "go") lot *** The first syllable of "Volat" can be pronounced as "vo" (as in the first syllable of "vogue").

What Does "alis aquilae" Translate To In English?
Q. Also Is There Latin For "Freebird"?
Asked by HBK-FAN - Sun Jan 10 04:30:13 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. This means "by the wings of an eagle." The "alis" is the ablative plural. The nominative plural would be "alae aquilae" (the wings of an eagle), but because of the sameness of endings, one could--without context--also translate this (less likelily but technically) as "the eagles of the wing." If one wanted "wings" in the nominative, one could put "eagles" in the genitive thus: "alae aquilarum" (the wings of eagles). Addition: I did not read the second part. I do not know the unitary word "freebird," but the phrase "free bird" in Latin is "avis libera."

How do you pronounce "Alis aquilae" (Latin)?
Q. How do you say this?
Asked by owly - Sun Feb 28 04:31:09 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. AH-lease AH-quil-eye. * * * Okay, at this point I suppose I should clarify something because people are thumbing down gurghet's answer. The only real difference between his answer and mine and Graham's comes down to how he pronounces the dipthong -ae. That is most likely due to the fact that Graham and I are basing our pronunciations on the rules of classical Latin, where -ae is pronounced like eye, while gurghet is probably basing his pronunciation on the rules of ecclesiastical (or church) Latin, where it is usually pronounced as either E or A. Which pronunciation you think is more valid boils down to whether you want to know how the Romans would have probably pronounced it, or how it would be read by the clergy today.

Why do Ali fans start crying whenever someone brings up the question Ali vs Tyson?
Q. Is it because they know Tyson would have destroyed ali if both had met in there primes.
Asked by WHO AM I - Mon Sep 7 00:25:27 2009 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It's because since I've joined Yahoo Answers, I'm the only one man enough to bring out the facts. Muhammad Ali was boring, overrated, a cheater, a runner, and fought like a coward. And Tyson of pre-1989 was the best fighter on planet earth. Ali might beat Tyson, but it would be from running and hugging all night. People read that, and the facts I present about Ali and they can't believe they were gullible enough to believe in his "I'm the greatest" routine, then they break down in tears. But it's politically incorrect and frowned upon to not lick Ali's nuts on this board for some reason. Go figure.
